WBC Raiffeisen Wels made sure there will be a thrilling final week in Group G of the EuroChallenge with a 68-64 triumph at Antwerp Giants. Jason Conley had 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Austrian team, which improved to 3-2 and moved into second place behind Artland Dragons (4-1). Antwerp led 57-50 with 5:20 remaining in the game when Wels hit them with a 12-0 run to go on top for good. Bruce Fields started the scoring spurt with a three-pointer and finished it with a jump shot. He ended up with 10 points. Trenton Meacham had 16 points for to top the scorers for the winners. A win next week at Artland in Germany will clinch a spot for Wels in the Last 16. Antwerp (2-3), who got 19 points and five rebounds from Bryan Hopkins, must win at Tartu Rock next week to keep alive their hopes of progressing. |
