WBC Raiffeisen Wels avoided an 0-3 start in the EuroChallenge by scraping a 74-73 triumph on Tuesday at home to Artland Dragons in Group G.
Chad Prewitt hit a three-pointer with 3:54 remaining to give the German club a 68-67 lead but Matthew Nelson answered with a lay-up to put the Austrian outfit back on top for good.
Artland kept the game close, though.
Not long after, Nathan Peavy connected from long range to cut the deficit to 72-71, only for Nelson to catch a pass from Jason Conley and make a lay-up at the other end for a 74-71 lead.
Toby Bailey, who had a game-high 25 points, replied for Artland to make it 74-73 but his basket proved to be the last in the game.
Trenton Meacham was a perfect four of four from long range and finished with 20 points for Wels.
