Semi-final Stage Set


CSK-VVS Samara earned a berth in the semi-finals following a 81-69 win over Mlekarna Kunin to win the best-of-two 165-133.

Nikita Shabalkin led the way with 28 points to pace the victors.

 “Congratulations to all the fans!” said Samara coach Valery Tikhonenko after his team’s triumph.

“For the first time Samara's men’s team is going to the semi-finals of a European Cup tournament. I think this a good success for us and we not going to stop with this.”

The Russian-based outfit will be going up against Pizzaexpress Apollon Limassol in the semi-final.

The team from Cyprus advanced after beating U-Mobitelco 168-146.

Johnathan Oden scored 14 and 24 points in the two games.

A second team from Cyprus will also be playing in the semi-finals as Keravnos Cyprus College defeated BK Prostejov 166-157 in their quarter-final match-up.

Keravnos will be taking on BC Dnipro, who prevailed 175-169 over Cherkaski Mavpy in the quarters.

The semi-finals are also home-and-away games and begin on February 28th.
