Defending champions Dynamo Moscow and Mersin Buyuksehir have grabbed the first two spots for the EuroCup Women quarter-finals.

Already holding a convincing 69-55 advantage from the first game of their eighth-final with PEAC Pecs, the holders had little difficulty in finishing the job with a similarly convincing 78-57 success on the second leg.

If there were any lingering doubts as to who would advance to the last eight, they were erased swiftly as the home side registered a 26-8 opening quarter and consequently never needed to look back.

Russian national team forward Nadezhda Grishaeva led the way with a sparkling 22 points and 14 rebounds, whilst Latoya Williams fired 15 points in defeat.

The other game was delicately balanced ahead of tip-off, with Chevakata Vologda arriving on Turkish soil with a slender 61-59 lead following the first match-up.

However, despite a three-point shooting clinic from Montenegrin guard Snezana Aleksic who sunk three triples in a 22-point haul, as well as a scorching 25-12 opening quarter, Chevakata were left disappointed as Mersin booked their spot with a 74-63 victory.

Mersin recovered from their shaky opening and outscored the visiting team 50-28 across the middle two quarters which gave them the platform they needed to prevail.

Whilst Aleksic was on-song, she was outshone by Matee Ajavon who amassed an MVP haul of 32 points for the winning team, a performance critically underpinned by a powerful double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds from center Courtney Paris.

The other six precious spots for the quarter-finals will be determined on Thursday night.
