| 01.03.2011 EuroChallenge | | Jeremiah Massey posted a double-double to brush aside the hopes of Prostejov of advancing to the Quarter-Finals |
BK Prostejov threw a major scare into Lokomotiv Kuban but the Russian side pulled away in the fourth quarter to win the EuroChallenge Last 16 game in Krasnodar and book a place in the Quarter-Finals. Kestutis Kemzura's team prevailed 90-76 in the Group L game with Mike Wilkinson scoring 25 points and Jeremiah Massey 18. Massey, a naturalized F.Y.R. of Macedonia international who played at EuroBasket 2009, also corralled 11 rebounds. Prostejov won the first encounter between the sides 67-66 on February 1, a result that meant they had a chance of reaching the Quarter-Finals if they could upset Lokomotiv on their own court. Following a three-pointer by David Marek and a jumper by his Prostejov teammate Eugene Lawrence, the Czech team only trailed 68-66 with 8:06 left. A Sergey Toporov free-throw for Lokomotiv sparked an 18-2 run that left the home side in front to stay. The hosts ended up out-rebounding Prostejov 37-27 and hitting 53.5% (38 of 71) of their shots from the floor, compared to 44.3% (27 of 61). Andrius Slezas had 17 points to lead the visitors. |
