Zadar Shoot Down Prostejov

BC Zadar have had an almighty struggle this season in the Adriatic League but the EuroChallenge is proving to be a happy hunting ground.

The Croatian outfit beat BK Prostejov 96-90 to level their Last 16 Group L record at 1-1 and drop the Czechs to 0-2.

Marko Car erupted for 25 points for the winners, hitting four of eight shots from long range.

Zadar's shooting from the arc played a major role in their win because they finished 10 of 21 on the night.

It was a flurry of three-balls in the first quarter that gave Zadar a platform for victory.

The game was knotted at 12-12 after Prostejov's Eugene Lawrence sank a jump shot when Car nailed his first three-ball.

Following a Chester Mason lay-up, Pavle Marcinkovic buried another three.

Brandon Brown then got the home crowd on its feet with another three for a 23-12 Zadar advantage.

Prostejov reduced the arrears to five points but got no closer.

In the last minute of the first half, another Car three-ball followed by Marcinkovic's one-of-two effort at the charity stripe saw the advantage balloon to 55-40.

Prostejov continued to battle and managed to claw the deficit back to 95-90 with 15 seconds left but Zadar added a free-throw for the six-point triumph.

The visitors finished eight of 21 from long range and got a sterling effort from Lawrence, who had a game-high 37 points.

He was five of seven from the arc.

Both teams struggled from the line, with Zadar hitting only 14 of 25 (56%) compared to Prostejov's 20 of 30 (66.6%).
