Whalen Fails To Save ZVVZ

29 November 2007

Halcon Avenida picked up their second win in EuroLeague Women Group B on Thursday with a 88-82 triumph at ZVVZ Prague.

Anna Montanana led the way for the victors with a 22 points and seven rebounds, ensuring Lindsay Whalen's 26 points were in vain for Prague.

The first half was a tight affair.

The hosts found themselves slightly in the ascendancy but could not establish a game-winning advantage.

Prague at one stage had a six-point cushion at 28-22 but the Spanish outfit fought back and were level at 45-45 three minutes into the third quarter.

The visitors then took control and had built a 13-point lead at 70-57 with
7.21 remaining, and did not look back.

The result sees Avenida improve to a 2-2 record, while Prague remain rooted to the foot of the table on 1-3.
