Shakirova is one of only two (the other one is Elena Baranova) EuroBasket Women 1991 winners and 1992 Olympic gold medalists who still get on the court in Superleague.  The 37-year-old is known for her prowess in the paint and while her shot is not by the book Shakirova has fundamentals that can’t be taught - experience and desire. Known for her ability to dunk early in her career she broke her leg on one disastrous attempt and has played a less spectacular style since. An irrepressible globetrotter at heart, Shakirova has played in eight different national leagues including stops in the USSR, Russia, Brazil, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Austria and the USA.
