An explosive forward who spent last season with Coach Ricchini in Taranto, the player affectionately known simply as ‘Laia', had a stop-start season, but showed last summer exactly what she is capable of. She was one of the top performers during qualification, finishing strongly at the hoop as her clinical streak was matched by her determination and aggressive approach. She is very much an ‘in your face' kind of player but she isn't only about energy and strength. She is also very tactically aware and intelligent too. Balanced with her ability to penetrate and attack the basket or take quick jump shots, she looks like holding on to her starting position for Italy at the tournament.
