Napoli Clinch Italian Supercup

15 October 2007
Phard Napoli picked up where they left off last season by winning the Italian Supercup with a 59-58 win over Germano Zama Faenza.

In a battle of EuroLeague Women sides, the Italian champions were made to sweat at the PalaBarbuto before clinching the first silverware of the campaign.

Guard Kedra Holland-Corn was voted most valuable player after pouring in a game-high 19 points to lead Napoli to victory.

After Astu Ndiaye's lay-up gave Phard a 59-58 lead with 39 seconds remaining, Daliborka Jokic misfired with a potential game-winner.

Faenza led 36-24 at half-time but Napoli returned from the changing rooms a different team.

They hit their opponents with an 11-3 run early in the third quarter and the game ended with a thrilling finish.

The Serie A1 season tips off next weekend.
