Ciudad Ros Casares got their EuroLeague Women qualifying round campaign off to a storming start with a comfortable 71-52 win over Germano Zama Faenza in their Group D opener.
Centre DeLisha Milton did the bulk of the damage, sinking 18 points and claiming five rebounds in the win, while Evanthia Maltsi and Elena Baranova supplied the support artillery with 11 points apiece.
Marija Eric led the resistance for the Italians, claiming 18 points and three rebounds, but it was not enough to prevent the rout.
Despite the outcome, Germano started brightly and even led 9-7 after eight minutes of the first quarter.
The Valencians were not deterred, however, and bounced back to lead 14-11 after the first, 35-21 at half-time and 48-37 after three quarters.
Germano will now face Dynamo Moscow, while Ciudad Ros Casares take on USO Basket. |
