Sandrine Gruda - EuroBasket Women 2013 Profile

Team 2012-13: UMMC Ekaterinburg (Russia-Premier League)

Career: CFBB (France-NF1/2, 2002-05), Valenciennes (France-LFB, 2005-07), Ekaterinburg (Russia-Premier League, 2007-08), Connecticut Sun (USA-WNBA, 2008), Ekaterinburg (Russia-Premier League, 2008-09), Connecticut Sun (USA-WNBA, 2009), Ekaterinburg (Russia-Premier League, 2009-10), Connecticut Sun (USA-WNBA, 2010), UMMC Ekaterinburg (Russia-Premier League 2010-13)

It has been a wonderful year for Gruda, who not only added an Olympic silver medal to her impressive trophy haul, but was also crowned a EuroLeague Women champion with UMMC after producing an excellent performance in the final. Raised in Martinique until joining the CFBB in Toulouse during 2002, her father also represented France. She has excelled since her teen years, eventually becoming the first player in French basketball history to be crowned FIBA Europe Young Player of the Year and then also FIBA Europe Player of the Year. She led France to their last EuroBasket Women gold medal in 2009, scoring almost twice as much as any of her teammates. There is no front-court player with a smoother mid-range game or sweeter fade-away shot in Europe.
