Elina Babkina - EuroBasket Women 2013 Profile

Club Team 2012-13: ZVVZ USK Prague (Czech Republic-ZBL)

Career: TTT Riga (Latvia-LSBL, 2004-08), SK Cesis (Latvia-LSBL, 2008-09), Challes-les-Eaux (France-LFB, 2009-10), Lotos Gdynia (Poland-PLKK, 210-11), Fenerbahce (Turkey-TKBL, 2011-12), Municipal Targoviste (Romania-A1, 2012), ZVVZ USK Prague (Czech Republic-ZBL, 2013)

Having missed the qualification round last year, Babkina is expected to be back to lead the team at EuroBasket Women this summer, like she did with a team-high 14.4 points-per-game two years ago in Poland. It turned out to be a roller-coaster first major tournament for Babkina, finishing top of both the assists and turnover categories. She has been a recognised talent since her youth, representing her country at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing whilst still a teenager. She can score, pass and generally pull the strings, making her one of the leaders of this young team. Energetic and sometimes exuberant in her decision-making, she's usually great fun to watch. At club level she has won plaudits and championships in Poland; played in the EuroLeague Women Final Eight with Fenerbahce; and taken on a key role at Targoviste. However, last season she struggled for court time with USK Prague.
