Amaya Valdemoro

After leaving Ros Casares in Spain in favour of BC Volgaburmash in Samara, Russia, Valdemoro went from the main offensive option in 2004-05 to blending in with a team of stars in 2005-06. Valdemoro numbers went down slightly, but she still has been able to average double-digit scoring and contribute to Samara’s winning ways in two seasons with the club.

Despite leaving a Spanish club team, she still is a major part of her country’s National Team. At EuroBasket Women 2005, she averaged a tournament-best 21.6 points per game to help Spain win the bronze medal and qualify for the World Championship. A year later at the FIBA World Championship, Valdemoro finished second in the competition in scoring at 21.2 ppg, just 0.1 shy of leader Lauren Jackson. She scored a tournament-best 39 points in a single game in a match-up against Lithuania.

Her first stint with the Spain in international play was in 1993 in the European Championship for Cadettes. Since that time, she has played in EuroBasket Women four times in all to go along with an Olympic appearance in 2004. She has won two EuroBasket bronze medals.
