Russian star Maria Stepanova of BC Volgaburmash Samara was presented with the first-ever FIBA Europe Women's Player of the Year award during the inaugural EuroLeague Women All-Star game in Pecs, Hungary.

In the opening minutes of the game, play was stopped. FIBA Europe President George Vassilakopoulos and Secretary General Nar Zanolin came on to the court and jointly presented Stepanova with the 2005 FIBA Europe Women's Player of the Year trophy.

Of all the greats at the EuroLeague Women All-Star game, a player not on either the European or World team stole the show in the three-point shootout.

Zsófia Fegyverneky of MiZo-Pécs was brilliant in the three-point contest, hitting for 12 out of a possible 20 points in the first round to bring her home fans to their feet.

Lotos Gdynia guard Agnieszka Bibrzycka admits she is proud to be the only Polish participant in the first-ever EuroLeague Women All-Star Game, which takes place in Pecs on Wednesday.

Bibrzycka, who was fifth in the voting for the FIBA Europe Player of the Year award in 2005, has been in scintillating form for her club this season - averaging 16.5 points in the EuroLeague - and justifiably received a call-up to represent Europe in their inaugural clash with the Rest of the World.
