Tina Thompson has made a splash in her first EuroLeague Women season. Through Spartak Moscow’s first 11 games in the competition, Thompson is averaging 21.3 ppg (second best among all players). She has had six games in which she scored more than 20. This marks Thompson’s second tour of duty in Europe. She played with Rovereto Basket in Italy back in 2001.
Thompson earned an Olympic gold medal with the United States at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. She was named to the 1998 and 2002 USA World Championship teams, but injuries kept her out of both competitions.
The number one overall pick in the 1997 WNBA draft, Thompson became a member of the Houston Comets dynasty that won four consecutive WNBA championships from 1997-2000.
