Marina Karpunina

Career: Spartak Moscow (Russia-Superleague, 1999-2000), Spartak Moscow Region (Russia-Superleague, 2000-07)

At the U20 European Championship in 2004 Karpunina was the leading scorer for the Russian team that took home gold.  The Moscow native is coming off a personally disappointing season spent in the shadow of star foreigners at the 2007 Euroleague champion Spartak Moscow Region.  Nevertheless, she got hot in the Russian Superleague Finals and played an important role in Spartak’s win, collecting a boatload of offensive rebounds despite her size.
