Defending champions Gambrinus Sika Brno have been taken to a deciding third game in their EuroLeague Women quarter-final tie against Spartak Moscow Region after a terrific performance by the Russians on Friday.

Tina Thompson (Spartak Moscow Region)
Tina Thompson had her 5th double-double of the season with 25 points and 11 rebounds
Thrashed 73-58 at home by Gambrinus on Tuesday after an incredible 33-point performance by Eva Viteckova, Spartak hit back for an 81-63 triumph.

USA internationals Tina Thompson and Diana Taurasi were in excellent form for the visitors, pouring in 25 and 20 points, respectively.

Taurasi was four of five (80%) from three-point range while Thompson made 10 of 11 (90.9%) at the free throw line.

Gambrinus played well early on, but Spartak broke open a close game with a 17-3 run and the Czechs never recovered.

Leading 17-16, Taurasi buried a three-ball with 1:03 remaining in the first quarter, and Thompson followed with a jump shot at the start of the second period.

When Thompson's three-pointer capped off the run with 4:30 remaining in the opening half, Spartak led 34-19.

Spartak made sure that Viteckova wouldn't beat them.

The Czech international had made seven of 11 three-pointers in the first game, but in 25 minutes on Friday before her own fans, she scored just three points.

Viteckova was one of four from the arc.

The series now goes back to Moscow for the pivotal third game in five days, with the winners to advance to the EuroLeague Women Final Four.
