Despite crashing to a heavy 82-54 defeat to Spartak Moscow Region on Tuesday, USK Prague coach Lubor Blazek was is positive mood claiming his team did well in the EuroLeague Women's Eighth-Final play-off opener.

Spartak were ruthless against Blazek's team, but the coach still felt his team did well in game one of the best-of-three tie.

However, Prague will have to reverse the result if they are to have any chance of forcing a surprise third-leg against their much more fancied opponents.

"We didn't play a bad game here today, despite the final score showing a 28-point difference," Blazek told www.basket.idnes.cz.

"Sure it does not look good."

The visitors never looked in the game, but the coach was adamant that fortune played a key role in the final out come.

"We had no luck in the last quarter. When we were down by 18 points and Marketa Mokrosova closely missed a three-pointer, the home team turned it around and scored two quick three-pointers in a  row after that.

"We could have been 15 points down but Moscow had a 24 points advantage instead and the final minutes of the game could have been much different."

There was a huge difference in both team's goal percentage during the game with Spartak making 26 of 48 (54.1%) compared to 18 of 47 (38.2%) for Prague, something Blazek said was all-important in the final outcome.

"We had a very low percentage of our shooting today. We were able to get into good shooting positions but missed too many open  shots after that. That is a  difference between Spartak and us. The home team did not make these mistakes.

"We saw we can play against a quality team like Spartak today. And we always managed to cut back the home team's lead when their big stars were on the bench," concluded Blazek.

Game two of the tie takes place in Prague on February 2.
