Another big night from Tina Thompson propelled Spartak Moscow Regions into the quarter-finals of EuroLeague Women with a 67-52 win over USK Prague on the road.

Thompson, who poured in 25 points in the opening game of this Eighth Final play-off on Tuesday, scored 17 and grabbed 11 rebounds in Friday's decisive victory.

Tuesday's game had been an 82-54 blowout, but things were not so easy for Spartak in the re-match.

When Marketa Mokrosova made a jump-shot with 36 seconds left in the third quarter, USK were just two points down at 42-40.

Diana Taurasi sank a jumper for Spartak, but Katerina Elhotova then made scored with a lay-up and it was 44-42 at the end of the quarter.

That was as accommodating as Spartak were willing to be and they began the fourth quarter on a 15-2 run, capped by Sue Bird's jumper with 4:36 left, that put the final result beyond doubt.

Poor shooting for Spartak had been responsible for keeping it close, and the Russians made only 17 of 49 (35%) from two-point range and six of 17 (35%) from beyond the arc.

Taurasi finished with 13 points for Spartak, while Agnieszka Bibrzycka added 11 for the victors.

Sandra Le Drean led USK with 13 while Sviatlana Volnaya added 11 and Barbara Farris 10. Michaela Pavlickoya grabbed 14 rebounds.
