EuroLeague Women Final Four MVP Tina Thompson hailed her coach Natalia Hejkova following Spartak Moscow’s 76-62 triumph over Ros Casares in the title game.

“I want to thank my coach Natalia Hejkova,” said Thompson during the press conference following the title game triumph.

“We are a different type of group and coach did a great job of bringing us together. This is my first title, but this is coach’s third.”

The coach and player hugged in an emotional moment during the press conference.

“Tina helped me a lot in bringing this team together,” said Hejkova.

“It wasn’t easy with so many famous names. Everyone thinks that if we just come out, we’ll win. But that’s not the case.”

“It took some time, but the girls eventually understood what they had to do.”

Hejkova couldn’t have asked for anything more from her side in the Final Four.

“To win against Samara, a team we lost to three times in Russia, and then to win the final shows that we were really on top of our team.”

Hejkova coached SCP Ruzomberok to the EuroLeague Women title in 1999 and 2000.

When she won the 2000 title, Ruzomberok prevailed in double overtime.

“This title game was much easier,” she said with a smile.

But overall, Spartak's 2007 title run was much different, mainly due to the number of star players on Spartak's roster.

“Those were completely different types of teams compared to this one,” said Hejkova.

“This was very difficult and I want to thank everyone involved with the club for making this possible.”
