As only a freshman at Drexel University in the NCAA, Marginean had a monster year both on the basketball and the tennis court. Marginean was voted CAAC Rookie of the Year in basketball, winning countless Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honours along the way. She led the basketball team with 16.6 points and 8.2 rebounds per game and started in all 31 games. "Gabby“ shattered the school-record with 47 points and tied another Drexel record with 22 rebounds in a 98-90 win over Northeastern on February 22nd, a game that went five overtimes. Gabriela played almost the entire 65 minutes. She also excelled on the tennis court where she was 7-2 in singles play and 4-1 in doubles, though she missed most of the winter season because of basketball, her No. 1 priority.
