Jolene Anderson put forth a solid display for ESB Lille Metropole on Wednesday night, leading the French club to victory in its EuroLeague Women opener against Gospic Croatia. Anderson, a 1.73m guard, had 18 points and 12 rebounds in the 73-59 Group B victory. ESB trailed 23-20 at the end of the first quarter and Gospic got a Carla Thomas three-pointer and an Andja Jelavic lay-up at the start of the second period to go on top 28-20. The French team finally hit its stride, though, and went to half-time leading 40-36. They pressed home the advantage in the third quarter, outscoring the visitors 17-6 and went in front by as many as 20 in the final quarter before settling for a 14-point triumph. Thomas had 26 points and eight rebounds for Gospic. |
