Kathy Wambe

Career: Soubry Kortrijk (Belgium-D1, 1997-99), Dexia Namur (Belgium-D1, 1999-2002), Villeneuve-d'Ascq (2002-09)

It was another great season for Kathy Wambe and Villeneuve d’Ascq, as the point guard from Tournai turned in a magical performance with her club in the French Championship.  After Valenciennes and Bourges, Villeneuve is standing strong and playing in the EuroLeague Women next season. That will be the first EuroLeague Women experience for the 25-year-old Wambe, but this September will be her second trip to EuroBasket Women after helping her team to a sixth-place finish in Greece in 2003.  Her stats at that time were pretty good (10 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game) but Kathy Wambe has set higher goals for Chieti.  She finished second in assists in the French league with 6.4 per contest (to go along with 11.5 ppg). In addition, she dished out 5.5 assists and 10.3 points per contest in the EuroCup Women this season. She holds the French record for the most assists in a game with 18 against Mondeville.
