ESB Lille Metropole have boosted their roster ahead of their EuroLeague Women clash against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday by completing the signing of Brazil international Jucimara Dantas.
The versatile 29-year-old has joined the French side until the end of the season.
She will act as a replacement for Iveta Marcauskaite, the Lithuanian who will be absent for the rest of the 2007-08 campaign because she is pregnant.
That has deprived the northerners of one of their best talents and a player who has starred for them since joining from Hungarian outfit Szolnok in 2005.
But in Dantas, they have another player of pedigree. After winning two Brazilian championships with Parana, she came to Europe in 2001 and spent four years in France with Nice, then USO Mondeville.
For the last two years, she has played in Italy, her last club being Montigarda Montichiari.
A bronze-medalist with Brazil in the FIBA Americas Championship in October, she has helped her country qualify for the World Olympic Qualifying Tournament for the 2008 Games in Beijing.
Her signing will boost Lille ahead of their home match against CSKA in Group A.
Abdou N'Diaye's side will be looking to bounce back from their 83-65 defeat to TTT Riga last time out.
They opened up their campaign with an 87-67 win over MKB Euroleasing, and are currently second in the fledgling standings on a 1-1 record.
ESB warmed up for their third EuroLeague Women game of the season with a 56-45 defeat of Mourenx in France's Ligue Feminine, a result that lifted them into mid-table.
