Russian giants CSKA Moscow handed out a harsh lesson to ESB Lille Metropole on Wednesday to remain unbeaten in EuroLeague Women Group A with a 99-48 victory.

Gundars Vetra's side were in rampant mood as the hosts were routed, twin towers Maria
Maria Stepanova (CSKA Moscow)
Stepanova had 16 points in a dominating show from CSKA.
Stepanova and Amaya Valdemoro (both 16 points) leading the demolition in the north of France.

Three other CSKA players - Ilona Korstin, Ann Wauters and Rebecca Hammon - also got into double figures as their side went to 3-0 in the pool.

Serbian forward Jasmina Ilic stood out for the Lille, who are now on a 1-2 record, with 10 points.

The match was as good as over by the end of the first quarter.

Lille went almost six minutes without scoring a point, and in that time CSKA went on a
15-0 run (9-4 to 24-4) to take a vice-like grip of proceedings.

The second quarter was just as one-sided, the visitors establishing a 25-point lead (42-17) before scoring the final six points of the half to go into the dressing room 45-17 ahead.

Things were to get much worse for the hosts, and when Stepanova made a three-point play with 3:32 gone in the third period, CSKA had created a massive 36-point cushion (58-22).

They began the final 10 minutes ahead 75-32 and they did not let up, with most of their matchday squad of 12 getting in on the scoring action.

The only question was whether the Russians would clear the 100-point barrier - they just failed but that will be of little comfort for the well-beaten French side.
