Israel's EuroCup duo Ironi Iscar Nahariya and Rishon Le Zion recorded comfortable wins in the Israeli Premier League ahead of their midweek European action.

Ironi Nahariya, who face Club Estudiantes on Wednesday in Group A of the EuroCup, edged past Galil 89-83, while Rishon produced a dominant 87-77 win over Givat Shmuel ahead of their midweek clash with BC Siauliai in Group D.

Reggie Moore fired Rishon to a quickfire 12-0 lead, which was extended to 27-10 at the end of the first quarter, before a 19-point lead was established at the interval.

Rishon were never in danger of losing their unbeaten home record and secured the 10-point victory margin with ease in the second half, but coach Gilad Katz was far from happy with his side's performance.

"We lack consistency," he said. "At this time of the season what matters is the bottom line, and we won the game. We had a great start, but in the second half we weren't as focused as needed.

"We're now looking to Wednesday, to our EuroCup game against Siauliai."

Brian Tolbert top-scored for Rishon with 23 points, while Itay Lev added 12 and Moore contributed 11 points and eight rebounds.

Boo Davis (19) and Oren Aharoni (17) provided the resistance for Givat.

Ironi Nahariya were without point guard John Gilchrist against Galil, but their unbeaten record was never under threat as they burst into a 47-38 lead at the break, inspired by Raviv Limonad and Juan Mendez.

The home side cut the deficit in the third quarter but Nahariya established a seven-point lead heading into the last and Ido Kozikaro's key offensive rebound ensured the win.

"This win was very important for us," said Limonad, who contributed seven assists for the third week in a row and added 15 points.

"It was our first road game, and we wanted to prove that we can win also outside of our home court.

"There's no doubt I enjoy basketball much more this season. I feel like I have blossomed now."

Mendez top-scored for Nahariya with 18 points and Amit Ben David also added 15, while Kenny Adeleke poured in 19 for Galil.

Elsewhere, Hapoel Jerusalem beat Ashkelon 86-78, Ironi Ramat Gan suffered an 83-87 home defeat by newcomers Afula/Gilboa, which led to coach Khanokh Mintz being sacked, and Maccabi maintained their unbeaten start with a 85-73 home win over Bnei HaSharon.
