EuroCup side Maccabi Rishon Lezion reached the final of the League Cup but the same will not be said in the National Cup.

That's because Hapoel Jerusalem won the first leg of their eighth-finals showdown at a canter, 95-61, to all but seal their place in the next round.

Hapoel took an early double-digit lead and finished the first half with a 45-26 stranglehold on the contest.

Rishon's problems got worse in the third quarter, with big man Khaim Shimonovic fouling out soon after the half.

Hapoel stormed to 73-37 lead before taking their foot off the gas.

The 34-point gap will be enough to see Hapoel cruise into the quarter finals, with the second leg set for Sunday.

It's hard to believe this could be the same Rishon that reached the League Cup final before falling to Ashkelon.

Reggie Moore led Rishon with 17 points, Ryan Sidney had 13 along with 10 rebounds while Brian Tolbert scored 11.

Matan Naor and Erez Markovic carried Hapoel to a great night with 20 and 17 points, respectively.

The EuroCup's other Israeli representatives, Ironi Iscar Nahariya, had a better fate, earning an 89-74 double-digit home win over Galil Elyon.

Galil started well, and Nahariya did not take their first lead until early in the second quarter.

That gave them enough time to grab a 45-34 lead at half-time.

Youngster Omri Casspi kept Galil in the game, but then came a 20-3 local run that decided the game.

The visitors didn't give up and fought back to keep a reasonable chance for the second leg, where they'll need to overcome a 14-point deficit.

Juan Mendez led Nahariya with 25 points, Raviv Limonad added 15 and newcomer John Gilchrist and Verdan Vukusic scored 10 each.

In other games Maccabi Tel Aviv crushed hosts Ashkelon on the road, 111-72.

Gilboa/Afula defeated Hapoel Tel Aviv 87-69, Yoqneam/Megido came back from Qiryat Ata with a 105-103 triumph, Ironi Ramat Gan traveled to Givatayim to collect an 81-60 win and Bnei Hasharon travelled to Hod Hasharon and rolled to a 68-49 triumph.
