LaMarr Greer's two free throws at the end of overtime secured an 87-85 win for BC Kyiv over a defiant RheinEnergie Koln as the Ukrainian giants seized the upper hand in the best-of-three EuroCup quarter-final.

Kyiv, who reached the final of the FIBA Europe League last season before falling to Dynamo St Petersburg, blew an eight-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter with Michael Hakim Jordan's late basket forcing overtime.

RheinEnergie then had possession at the end of the extra period with a chance to win but missed from three-point range and Greer grabbed the rebound.

The officials then called a foul on the visitors, letting Greer - one of the best shooters in the EuroCup - go to the line and seal the victory.

Jordan led all scorers with 30 points on 11 of 21 shooting, including six of 15 from three-point range.

Immanuel McElroy also had 14 points and nine rebounds.

Greer scored 20 points, most of them at the line where he sank 10 of 12 for the night. The former Florida State University star was four of 14 from the field and two of seven from behind the arc.

Croatian center Kresimir Loncar also had a big game at the line, making nine of 10 and finishing with 17 points.

He also had 11 rebounds in the contest.

As a team, BC Kyiv were 29 of 35 at the free throw line while RheinEnergie were eight of 13.

Game two is Friday back in Germany.
