Christoforos Stefanidis made four free throws in the final minute as Maroussi Honda edged out RheinEnergie Cologne 73-69 on Tuesday to remain undefeated atop Group J of the EuroCup Round II.

Roderick Blakney paced the Greeks with 19 points and had three steals and Alexandros Kyritsis added 11 points for Panagiotis Yannakis's team.

"Both teams fought hard but at the end, it was our concentration that gave us the opportunity to win," Yannakis said.

Glen McGowan's 21 points was not enough for Sasa Obradovic's home side, which also received 16 from Immanuel McElroy, 12 from Aleksandar Nadjfeji and 10 from Janar Tafts.

The Germans, who are now 2-1 in the group, came out of the gates strong, opening a 9-2 lead and were up 14-8 despite missing three early free throws.

"We played the whole game to the best of our capabilities, but small things like our turnovers decided the result of the game," Obradovic said.

RheinEnergie led 18-13 after one period and went on a 12-6 run to open the second frame. But Blakney scored five straight points in the final minute to pull his team to within 35-31 after 20 minutes.

In the third, Tafts hit back-to-back three-pointers to open a 43-39 advantage for the Germans. But the Cologne captain Nadjfeji was called for an unsporting foul with 3:12 left. And the Greeks capitalised with two free throws and a jumper by Kyritsis.

The Germans missed four more free throws over the final three minutes of the third period and Sotirios Nikolaidis's three-pointer helped Maroussi to a 52-47 lead going into the fourth.

They extended the advantage to nine - 58-49 - when Nikolaos Bountouris buried a three-pointer with six minutes left. Stefanidis and Blakney also hit from beyond the arc as the lead bulged to 10 - 64-54 with just more than three minutes left.

"In the second half we executed and used the mismatches to win the game," Blakney said.

McElroy and McGowan scored all nine points in a 9-1 run and the Germans found themselves back in the game. But Stefanidis hit four free throws in the final minute, and Jared Homan made one of two just before the end.
