FIBA Europe announced on Monday that the Russian city of Ekaterinburg will host the 2011 EuroLeague Women Final Four, which will take place from 8-10 April.

The announcement was made at the press conference held prior to the EuroLeague Women All Star Game in Gdynia, Poland.

UMMC Ekaterinburg will play host to their three opponents, Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje, Ros Casares Valencia and Halcon Avenida Salamanca.

"UMMC Ekaterinburg are one of the most experienced and professional clubs in EuroLeague Women.

"I am sure that they will host another great edition of the EuroLeague Women Final Four," commented FIBA Europe President Olafur Rafnsson.

"It is about time that we go to the other side of the Urals," added FIBA Europe Secretary General Nar Zanolin.

"Russia obviously is the biggest country in Europe and I am proud and happy to go there for another exciting EuroLeague Women Final Four.

"Our friends from Ekaterinburg more than convinced us with their bid to host the event and the excitement in the club and the city is enormous," Mr Zanolin concluded.

UMMC Ekaterinburg have never hosted a EuroLeague Women Final Four but have been one of the EuroLeague Women powerhouses in the last years with three consecutive Final Four appearances.

The Russian city is the latest in a long line of worthy hosts, including Valencia in 2010, Salamanca in 2009 and Brno in 2008.

Hosts UMMC Ekaterinburg and reigning EuroLeague Women champions Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje face each other in the first semi-final while in a game between two Spanish giants, Ros Casares take on Halcon Avenida in the other.

Both semi-finals are played on Friday 8 April with the game for third place and the final following on Sunday 10th April.

FIBA Europe will announce the details of the new competition format for the 2011/12 EuroLeague Women Regular Season and Final Eight this week.
