Taylor, Gruda Fire UMMC Past Jolly

UMMC Ekaterinburg put their narrow home setback to Spartak Moscow Region in the Russian Superleague on Sunday to the side and romped to victory at Jolly JBS Sibenik.

Penny Taylor, the most valuable player at the 2006 FIBA World Championship for Women for gold-medal winning Australia, had 11 points, 12 rebounds and five assists on Wednesday for Ekaterinburg, who remained unbeaten in the EuroLeague Women at 8-0.

Laurent Buffard's Ekaterinburg jumped out to a big lead late in the opening quarter, with Sandrine Gruda's jumper putting them in front at 23-12.

Gruda would go on to score a game-high 22 points.

The Sibenik club didn't allow the visitors to pull away, but Taylor's three-pointer with a second remaining in the first half game Ekaterinburg a 40-31 advantage.

The third quarter belonged to Taylor and Co. They opened up a 21-point lead at 61-40 and cruised the rest of the way.

Jessica Dickson scored 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds for Jolly JBS Sibenik, who dropped to 2-6 in Group B.
