UMMC Ekaterinburg won 71-64 at ESB Lille Metropole on Friday to clinch a 2-0 series victory in the EuroLeague Women Eighth-Finals Play-off series.

Lille got 14 points from Kathy Wambe while recent signing Yelena Leuchanka had nine rebounds to go with her eight points for UMMC, who played without Penny Taylor for the second straight game.

The Australian has been given a leave of absence to attend to a personal matter.

Lille fought hard but were outclassed in the end by Ekaterinburg, who got a team-high 14 points from Agnieszka Bibrzycka.

Abdou N'diaye, the Lille coach, was proud of his team.

"It was a great experience," he said of the EuroLeague Women.

"We had a good game but we lost on details like the physical (matchups)."

His team did do well in the rebounding, grabbing 43 while Ekaterinburg had just 36.

But they hurt their chances at the free throw line by making just six of 14.

"I am happy of the presentation of my team," he added.

"The team showed it has its place in this competition."

Ekaterinburg coach Laurent Buffard is hoping for a good show from his team in the next round after they were pushed hard by Lille.

"I was nervous because we were bad on the rebounds," he said.

"But Villeneuve d'Ascq played a very good game."
