The foreign invasion at UMMC Ekaterinburg has continued at full tilt with USO Mondeville confirming that their French star Caroline Aubert had signed for the Russian giants for the remainder of the season.
Aubert, a EuroLeague Women All Star selection last season who won the three-point shooting contest in Valencia, will be available to play for Laurent Buffard's team with immediate effect in Europe when Ekaterinburg take part in the eighth-finals against ESB Lille Metropole.
"I can confirm to you that Caroline Aubert left our club for UMMC Ekaterinburg for the end of the season," USO Basket general manager Cyrille Aubert said in an email to Basketball World News.
USO Basket did not progress from the group stage but Caroline Aubert, her statistics proved, had a strong campaign.
While best known for her long-range shooting ability - she made 21 of 48 (43.8%) from behind the arc - Aubert also dished out 7.6 assists per contest.
She averaged 12.5 points, and had a season-high 22 in a game against Dynamo Moscow at the end of November.
Ekaterinburg, who begin their best-of-three Eighth-Final Round showdown with ESB Lille Metropole in Russia on February 5, have three Australian internationals (Suzy Batkovic, Pennny Taylor and Kristi Harrower), a Poland national team star (Agnieszka Bibrzycka) and now two French players (Sandrine Gruda, Aubert).
