Wisla Can-Pack Krakow have done the best possible thing in their attempt to reach the EuroLeague Women Final Four for the second year running.

The club has signed world class center Yelena Leuchanka, giving the club a twin tower combination that most outfits can only dream of.

With Polish international pivot Ewelina Kobryn already on the books of Wisla, Jose Ignacio Hernandez's side has swooped for the 27-year-old Leuchanka.

The Belarus international was voted to the All-Star Five at last year's FIBA World Championship for Women in the Czech Republic and fills the void left by Janel Burse, who parted ways with Wisla over the winter break because of injury.

Leuchanka began the season with Gorzow but the club has won just two of eight games and is fifth in EuroLeague Women Group D.

She did her part in making the club contenders, at least early on when fully fit, by averaging 15.8 points and 9.2 rebounds in the six European games.

"I'm proud and happy that I could be part of a club like Wisla," said Leuchanka, who has had major operations on both of her knees during her career.

"I just hope to be healthy and for the team to avoid injuries, and then we can accomplish great things."

Kobryn, meanwhile, has been made captain.

"I'm really very happy," the 28-year-old said.

Wisla have been making a lot of headlines the past several days.

The club also signed American sharpshooter Nicole Powell, a former EuroLeague Women All-Star while a player at Halcon Avenida.

Dorota Gburczyk-Sikora had been on the books but can no longer play while she is expecting a baby daughter.
