An 8-0 run in the final minute powered MKB Euroleasing into the quarter-finals of the EuroLeague Women with an 80-70 win over UMMC Ekaterinburg.

Having fallen short with a late rally in game two of this series, MKB were far more decisive in the closing stages this time.

With the game poised at 72-70, Ivana Matovic sank two free-throws with 52 seconds left and then, when UMMC's Suzy Batkovic missed a three-pointer it was Matovic who grabbed the rebound to take the ball to the other end where Lindsay Whalen fouled Katalin Honti.

She made both of her free throws to stretch the advantage to six with 42 seconds remaining.

The pattern was then repeated as Batkovic missed another three-ball, and Bernadett Nemeth grabbed the rebound before being fouled by Adia Barnes.

Nemeth also made her free throws, and Olexandra Gorbunova sealed it with a lay-up as the clock ran down.

"We fought with our heart won for our fantastic fans! Im very happy!," Matovic said.

"In this fantastic atmosphere we couldn't lose this game!" said MKB coach Milan Veverka.

"Thanks to our fans! It was an exciting game, we won together with our fans. Congratulations also to my players!"

MKB had appeared to be in control with a 38-25 lead midway through the second period, but UMMC chipped away at the lead and went on a 10-0 run with Cheryl Ford's free-throw with 3:17 left in the first half making it 38-35.

Matovic led MKB with 17 points and eight rebounds while Gorbunova added 16 points and Honti and Albena Branzova added 12 each.

Batkovic finished with 23 points and seven rebounds for UMMC while Cheryl Ford had 12 points and seven boards.

"Congratulations to Sopron," said  Whalen.

"They didn t miss in the last minute and so won the game."
