Group C pacesetters Gambrinus Brno won their fifth match in Euroleague Group C as they cruised to a 64-45 win over UMMC Ekaterinburg.
That victory means that table-topping Gambrinus have lost just once in six outings and visitors UMMC, who come out of the clash with a 4-2 record, never came close to doling out a second defeat on their opponents.
The hosts started with breakneck speed, establishing a massive lead of 18 after the first quarter, which they won 35-17 despite making just one three-pointer through Hana Machova, who also weighed in with four assists.
The scoring rate dropped off noticeably after that exciting first period and in the final quarter only 13 points were scored, with Gambrinus scoring eight of them.
Ivana Vecherova stole the show for the home team, claiming 14 points, while Audrey Sauret-Gillespie took a share of the top-scorer honours by pouring in the same amount.
American Cheryl Ford grabbed 11 rebounds in a losing cause for UMMC and Sofia Young hit back with eight rebounds of her own for Gambrinus.
Machova, Sofia Young (both 11 points) and Deanna Nolan (10) also contributed double figures for the Czech side, but nobody except Sauret-Gillespie could score more than six for UMMC.
