FULL ROSTER
Head Coach Dmitriy Bazelevskiy
// 29 January 2008

Khimik suffered a morale-sapping loss one week ago to BC Barons of Riga but they hit back in grand style on Tuesday with a victory over Lokomotiv Rostov to reach the EuroCup Quarter Final Round.

The Ukrainian side won 78-62 to improve to 4-2 and join Barons in the next round of the competition from Group D while Lokomotiv, despite being one of the favorites before the EuroCup, fell to 2-4.

Dmitriy Bazelevskiy and Khimik were frustrated at times but came out on top.
Valentin Kubrakov of Lokomotiv, who would have advanced with a win, tipped his hat to the victors.

"Khimik did not give us a single chance for victory and they won today," he said, before admitting that Lokomotiv are truly struggling.

"We have changed a lot of players in this season, and we cannot find our real game.

"When we failed at the end of the first quarter, we were not able to organize the attack."

In the early going, Khimik built a 10-point lead and alarm bells started ringing in Yuzhny, where the game was being played.

Instead of panicking, however, Khimik maintained their poise and ended up closing the gap to 17-15 with 10 minutes gone.

Khimik then outscored the visitors 22-6 en route to a commanding 37-23 lead at half-time.

Lokomotiv never recovered.

Aleksandar Djuric, who had a game-high 17 points for Khimik, said: "We were better today.

"It was a 100% deserved victory of our team.

"We failed again at the beginning of the game, but managed to overcome over our problems."

Olumuyiwa Famutimi was very effective for Khimik with a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with his eight points.

Khimik finished eight of 20 from three-point range, and they did a lot of damage at the free throw line as well by making 24 of 30.

"It's a pity that we did not show our best game today," said Rostov coach Milan Minic.

"We had the advantage of 10 points at the beginning of the game, but our problems with organization of the defense, realization of shots, and overall, Khimik was better in the whole game.

"Djuric has shown a wonderful game on defense and offense and made great three-point shots."

Djuric finished three of five from the arc.

"I congratulate Khimik for winning the game and wish them good luck in the next games," Minic added.
