PLAYER HISTORY
Ladislav Sokolovsky

Ladislav Sokolovsky has the game of a cagey wildcat, lulling opponents with his soft moves before pouncing. The captain of Nymburk and of the National Team behaves on the court much as you would suspect of someone with his ominous nickname, “Falcon” (the meaning of his surname in English). In the Czech League, he has won five titles and four Czech Cups. Sokolovsky is one of the more experienced players on the team having joined the national side first in 1998. He has always been one of the leaders on any team he has played for. The 200-cm forward is very athletic and knows the game of basketball very well. His deadly accuracy from three-point range (48% last season in the Czech League) makes him tough to stop off the dribble as defenders have to respect his ability to hit the open shot.  When he misleads defenders with fakes, he gets quickly to the basket where he scores or dishes it off. For his opponents he is most dangerous as a defender because he is cat quick, strong and is very smart. His importance to his team is best described by listing his achievements: Six consecutive trips to the Czech All-Star Game, slam dunk contest finalist and three time Czech NBL Defensive Player of the Year (2002, 2003 and 2004).
