Five players scored in double figures as defending champions Dynamo St. Petersburg righted themselves with a convincing 85-68 victory against CEZ Nymburk in Group I of the EuroCup.

Dynamo were left licking their wounds last week after BC Kyiv thrashed them 90-63, snapping their 26-game winning streak in European play. But Kelly McCarty answered the wake-up call, leading the Russians in scoring with 17 points after being held to just two against Kyiv.

Damir Miljkovic added 14 points for the winners, while Vladimir Veremeenko scored 11 and Ognjen Askrabic and Jamal McCullough each chipped in 10 points.

Radoslav Rancik paced the home side with 16 points while Gintaras Einikis added 11 and Adam Hess scored 10 points.

The Czechs stayed with the Russian powerhouses for the first seven minutes, trailing just 16-13. But Dynamo unleashed an 11-2 run to close the first quarter at 27-12.

Rancik scored 14 points in the first half, but it was not enough as Miljkovic and McCarty combined for 23 as St. Petersburg led 45-32 halfway through the contest.

Michel Nascimento's two free throws closed the gap to 45-37 with 8:50 left in the third. But Askrabic scored nine points as Dynamo went on a 19-6 run for a 64-43 lead. The Russians finished the third quarter with a 67-48 advantage.

St. Petersburg just had too many weapons for the Nymburk as three straight baskets by McCullough opened a 25-point lead - 75-50 - and Dynamo eased home from there.

St. Petersburg are now tied for second place in the group at 1-1 with Kyiv while Nymburk need big help after starting with two straight losses.
