Sophia Young will make her Cras Basket Taranto debut on Thursday night when the club hosts Parma in an Italian league clash.
Young put Taranto in the headlines just a few days before Christmas when she joined the club to bolster the squad ahead of the EuroLeague Women play-offs.
Taranto have already clinched first place in Group A with seven wins in eight Qualifying Round games.
Coach Roberto Ricchini said of the former Galatasaray star who goes by the nickname ‘So': "She is an athlete with a thousand resources who can surely be a landmark for this group, both in basketball and in a human sense."
They are firmly focused on the Italian league this week.
According to Taranto, Ricchini is getting over the flu while Italy international center Dubravka Dacic is recovering from tonsillitis.
Ricchini says his players are "eager to continue to march both in Italy and in Europe, with the goal of always expressing its best basketball."
And the coach warned his Taranto players that they shouldn't be fooled by Parma's low position in the standings.
"The team is suffering at the bottom of the league and has nothing to lose so they will surely be dangerous.
"Just like every opponent, it (Parma) should be respected."
