Cras Basket Taranto gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about as they rolled to an 81-53 victory over TEO Vilnius on Wednesday night. On the last night of Qualifying Round action in the EuroLeague Women, the Group A win pushed the Italian club to 6-4 while Vilnius fell to 1-9. Rebekka Brunson had 20 points and nine rebounds for the winners. It was a solid defensive effort from Taranto, who held the Lithuanian team without an assist until the fourth quarter. Lindsey Marcie Harding scored all eight of Vilnius's first-quarter points and finished with 23 in the game. Harding got a little help in the second quarter from Vita Kuktiene, who buried two shots from long range, but it was too little, too late as Taranto jumped out to an 18-point lead at half-time. Jami Montagnino provided a burst of offense with 16 points on four of five shooting from behind the arc for Taranto, who ended up with five players in double-figures. Overall, the Italian team shot a blistering nine of 15 from three-point range. Vilnius were held to 39% shooting for the game, and compounded their offensive struggles with 19 turnovers. |
