Eirini Stachtiari

Career: Agios Thomas (Greece-Local Division, 1990-95), Agia Paraskevh (Greece-A2-A1, 1995-97), Oberpullendorf (Austria-Hauptrunde 1, 1997-98),  Agia Paraskevh (Greece-A1, 1998-2000), Glyfada (Greece-A1, 2000-2003), Esperides Kallitheas (Greece-A1, 2003-07)

Good centers have been hard to come by in Greece lately.  Stachtiari enjoys a great reputation with the National Team and her first official appearance with blue and white colours came during the Olympic Games in Athens. She would have joined the team earlier if it wasn’t for a pair of knee-surgeries.  Stachtiari’s main asset is her ability to play in the paint facing the basket whereas most players in her position prefer to play with their back to the basket.  The 30-year-old center reminds people more of a power forward than a center and is also able to score from some distance. She has won four Greek Cup titles, two with Glyfada and two with Esperides plus one championship title in 2006. In 2006-07 she averaged 6.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in the Greek 1A league.
