Liège Basket put on an amazing fourth quarter display to beat BC Kyiv 80-62.
Trialing 55-50, the Belgian-based outfit outscored their Ukrainian opponents 30-7 in the final stanza.
For the game, Liège outrebounded Kyiv 48-28. Both teams pointed to this stat as the difference in the game.
"The game was very close throughout," said Liège's François Lhoest.
"After the half, Kiev increased their intensity on defense, but we did too.
"It helped us to get rebounds and play fast break. We got a lot of rebounds and it helped us get easy baskets."
Kyiv coach Viktor Berezhnoi and forward Oleksiy Pecherov agreed.
"Our team allowed 17 offensive rebounds to Liège Basket," Berezhnoi said.
"This was the same thing in Tallin, and we lost that game too. If you lose rebounding, you lose the game."
"We played good basket ball three quarters, but after we let the Belgian guys get rebounds and we had difficulties," Pecherov said.
"Liège Basket played a great game. Today, we played good basketball for three quarters, but not the fourth. It was the difference today."
