Douglas, Bimbaite In All Star Game

EuroLeague Women

Katie Douglas (Ros Casares)
Katie Douglas will replace her injured Ros Casares teammate Rebekkah Brunson

When the EuroLeague Women All Star Game tips off on Tuesday 8 March at 18:10, it will be without two well-known faces.

Rebekkah Brunson and Amaya Valdemoro will be replaced by Katie Douglas and Ausra Bimbaite.

Rebekkah Brunson, the two-time All Star center on the books of Ros Casares Valencia, suffered a knee injury in her team's win over Bourges in the Quarter-Final Play-Offs.

Brunson, who appeared in last year's edition of the All Star Game and in another one as early as 2006, will be replaced by her Ros Casares teammate Katie Douglas.

The American 1.83m forward who had back to back All Star appearances in 2006 and 2007 is the player with the highest scoring average of all teams that qualified for the Final Four.

Douglas was in tremendous form recently and largely contributed to Ros Casares' back to back run to the Final Four.

She gives the new Ros Casares team valuable experience from two Final Four appearances with Lietuvos Telekomas in 2005 and 2006.

7. Ausra Bimbaite (VICI Aistes)

One of the most famous and decorated players in Women's Basketball, Rivas Ecopolis and Spain small forward Amaya Valdemoro, also had to announce her withdrawal from the event on Women's Day.

The explosive scoring machine is currently recovering from injury and cannot interrupt her rehabilitation.

Her place on the team Europe roster will be filled with Vici Kaunas star Ausra Bimbaite.

The Lithuanian guard/forward had an outstanding start to the season, helping fire Kaunas to an upset win over four time champions Sparta&K on the opening day of the Regular season.

Over 7 games she was one of the best European scorers in the competition, averaging 15.7 points and 5.1 rebounds as well as 3.1 assists per game.

She got hurt in her team's sensational home win over Final Four participants Halcon Avenida in early December but returned to action in February.

Amaya Valdemoro's spot in the starting line-up of team Europe will be taken by FIBA Europe Women's Player of the Year Hana Horakova.
