| 22 October 2008 CSKA Moscow stormed to their second big win in the EuroLeague Women with an 89-48 drubbing of TTT Riga in Latvia on Wednesday.
Gundars Vetra's team delivered a first-quarter knockout punch, outscoring Riga 27-9.
Trailing 44-27 at half-time, TTT Riga were then blown away in the third quarter when CSKA held them to just six points and opened up a 66-33 lead.
Ann Wauters finished with a game-high 19 points for CSKA, who also got 17 from Katie Douglas.
Becky Hammon played 28 minutes for CSKA and scored seven points, handed out seven assists and pulled down six rebounds.
Her fellow Russia internationals and 2008 Olympic bronze-medal winners Ilona Korstin and Maria Stepanova each scored nine.
Essence Carson scored 12 points to lead Riga, who were just one of 18 (5.6%) from three-point range and 18 of 52 (34.6%) inside the arc.
TTT Riga were 86-71 losers at home to MBK Euroleasing in their opener last week. |
