Spanish star Amaya Valdemoro would have expected nothing less than to reach the EuroLeague Final Four with CSKA Volgaburmash.

"The team I play for is built to play in the final of  the EuroLeague Women,” she said to PA Sport.

"(But) Our aim is to win the EuroLeague title.

“We have two games to achieve this and we know that in order to do so, we have to play better than any other team."

The Russian giants, who won eight of their 10 regular season games in the competition, swept MKB Euroleasing to reach the Final Four for the third straight year.

Valdemoro will be keeping an eye on Spartak Moscow Region.
CSKA captured the title in 2005 by beating Gambrinus Brno, but the Czech giants avenged that defeat by beating the Samara team last year in Brno.

Before CSKA Volgaburmash can even dream of lifting the title, they have a very difficult semi-final to win.

"We could face Spartak, Casares or Fenerbahce in the semi-final and although I really don't mind which team we face next, I hope it's not Spartak,” Valdemoro said.

“I don't think it is fair to have to face a team of the same country, it wouldn't be fair on them as they finished ahead of us in the regular season.”

In fact, CSKA Volgaburmash would face Spartak if they were to beat Gambrinus since two Russian sides cannot meet in the final.

Ros Casares, Valdemoro’s former team, are level at 1-1 last eight tie with Fenerbahce, so a meeting against them would have special meaning for the Spanish international.

"They face a very hard game in Istanbul,” Valdemoro said.

“Ros Casares have a better team than Fenerbahce but to play in Turkey is never easy and I hope they overcome the court disadvantage to be in the Final Four.

“I think they deserve to be among the top four teams in Europe."
