Accepting awards for her achievements is nothing new for Amaya Valdemoro, nor is her willingness to share the glory be it with Spain or Ros Casares.

Valdemoro was voted most valuable player of the Copa de la Reina for the second time in three years after leading the Valencia club to a third successive title in the competition over the weekend.

After the 72-67 final win over Perfumerias Avenida, she immediately paid homage to many of the 2,600 inside the Pabellon Son Moix de Palma de Mallorca who had made the trip from Valencia to back the team, and also showered her team-mates with praise.

"We want to dedicate this title to our fans that have come all the way to Palma to support us," she said.
This is the second of the four titles that we wanted to win this year. We have achieved 50% of our aims but we still have to get the league title and the EuroLeague

"I don't consider this an award for my individual work but of the whole team."

Valdemoro scored 15 points in a final which wasn't decided until the end. Castro Marques almost single-handedly kept Perfumerias in the game with a game-high 28 points.

Had they not be awful from the free throw line - Perfumerias were just five of 17 from the charity stripe - the Salamanca team might have prevailed instead.

"It was more difficult than everyone expected," said Valdemoro.

They cleared the UB Barcelona hurdle on Saturday in the semi-finals. Barca were supposed to be the most dangerous opponents.

"Although we have been ahead the whole time, there were moments when they put pressure on us but that was when our defence was able to impose itself,"

Valdemoro said of Perfumerias.

For some clubs, what Ros Casares have already accomplished this year would be an unmitigated success. They had already won the Supercup before taking the Copa de la Reina.

But the standards are very high in Valencia. Valdemoro and Co also have high hopes in the league, which they currently sit on top of, and the FIBA EuroLeague.

"This is the second of the four titles that we wanted to win this year," Valdemoro said.

"We began with the Supercup and now we have won the Copa. We have achieved 50% of our aims but we still have to get the league title and the EuroLeague.

"Now we have to focus on Wednesday's EuroLeague game, a game where we play for qualifying to the next round."

Ros Casares host Lotos VBW Clima, and there will be plenty of incentive for that team to win.

Clima have a trio of leading Polish international stars who were denied a place at the Olympics by Spain in the bronze medal game at last summer's European Championships.

Ros Casares have Valdemoro, forward Marta Fernandez and centre Ingrid Pons - all who played against Poland in that game.

The three Poland stars who play for Lotos are 2.13m centre Margo Dydek, 1.80m guard Agnieszka Bibrzycka and 1.90m forward Joanna Cuprys.
