Spartak Moscow may have the best record in the EuroLeague Women, but CSKA Volgaburmash are providing a constant remainder that the defending silver-medallists are still Russia's top team.
Igor Grudin’s group defeated Spartak Moscow 87-81 in the Russian Superleague, marking the third time that CSKA has defeated their Russian rival this season.

Edwige Lawson scored eight straight points in the second quarter to help push CSKA in front 49-34 at the half.
Spartak fought back in the third quarter by outscoring CSKA 30-11 to set up an intriguing fourth quarter.
CSKA found their offense in time by outscoring Spartak 27-17 to ultimately prevail.
Lawson came up with several big shots down the stretch and finished with 18 points as CSKA improved to 12-0 in the Russian Superleague.
“I think that was the most intriguing game of all we have had with CSKA this season,” said Spartak coach Natalia Hejkova.
“Step by step we are creeping up on the championship leader.”
“Of course, I’m glad that we won but we had to work hard to get this victory,” said Grudin.
