FIBA Euroleague Women high-fliers VBM-SGAU Samara beat Dynamo-Energiya Novosibirsk 78-67 away on Saturday to maintain their unbeaten record in the Russian Superleague.

Samara, who meet USK Praha on Wednesday looking to pick up their eighth win in nine Euroleague matches, were without the injured Ilona Korstin but they started well and a 22-7 run in the second quarter put them well clear by the half-time interval.

Novosibirsk reduced the deficit to two points with three minutes left but they paid for their lack of strength and the visitors eased to the win.

It was also a successful weekend for another of Russia's Euroleague Women side with UMMC Ekaterinburg beating Dynamo Kursk 84-64 at home, with guard Helen Powell impressing on her debut for the winners.

The American played 28 minutes, collecting 10 points and three rebounds, although Iolanda Griffit stole the show with a game-high 20 points and 11 rebounds for Ekaterinburg.

The victory will come as a boost for Ekaterinburg who face a difficult Euroleague match at Group B leaders Gambrinus Sika Brno on Wednesday.
